Does any one in the northern ky/Cincinnati area know how to braid curly hair? Or know if there's any hair places that do?
Well I wiuld say wash ur hair and then braid it while it is wet or u could try 2 straighten it and then braid it

ok please help me i have really thick curly frizzy hair and i need to stop straightening it so i'm looking for an alternative. i have tried scrunching my hair but it just got frizzy and poofy as it dried. i heard that curl is needed for the scrunching to work, but for me my curls are working against me. i'm looking for that wet, crunchy look but is it even possible with my hair type? please tell me about some products you reccomend. any answers will be appreciated. thanks!
if you have the hair thats amazing when its wet but then grows into a mess when it dries than we have the same hair, no joke. i recently discovered sunsilk's products. they are amazing. they're like a gel and a leave in conditioner in one so they don't make your curls hard stiff like gel and mouse. instead you have nice soft curls. it's like 3 or 4 bucks a bottle at like normal drug stors and supermarkets.
try gel or mousse...also avon sells stuff especially for people with curly hair...it works great and all you have to do is go to avon.com to find a representative near you.

Yea so I have thick curly hair and was wondering what products I can use to keep it healthy and growing. Like what product beside gel, jam or spritz can I use to make my curls freeze up ? But not damage my hair.
i have thick curly hair and so does my 9 yr old daughter and my 19 month old son is starting to get them...I use L'oreal springing curls!! Do not rub when you towel dry as that creates frizz...As for shampoo and conditioner..I use Nexxus
Start with Aussie shampoo (works great with your hair type). Then go onto a leave in conditioner and then blow dry it. It cuts out a ton of the poofiness and frizz.
aussie brand dual personality.. it's a mousse and leave in conditioner in one.. it'll make our hair hold the curls but it wont make them all stiff.. and it's a conditioner so it's helping your hair as it holds it..

My hair is the same way... I use Catwalk curls rock shampoo and conditioner. It works great. To make sure I dont loose my curls I dont brush it. I shampoo condition then towel dry and I add the catwalk leave in conditioner to protect my hair the finish it off by crunching some catwalk curl amplifier and just let it air dry. Frizz is no longer a preoblem and it only takes like 2 minutes to have great hair! I tried redken curls and i didnt get as much definition as i do with catwalk. I also tried ABBA and it also dosnt give me definition and there is some frizz... but, abba has this curl reactor and it works well. you just need a few sprits and your ready! good luck

conditionioner with a conditioner like thermasilk or one that is geared for perms.
use a detangler and a comb.. my hair is the same way!
detangler and a widetooth comb. You can also try using the "Frizz Ease" serum or pomade after you comb just to define te curls a bit.
After washing and drying your hair, unless you absolutely MUST do not brush it through. To get the curls to stick you may also have to use some type of product (there are tons out there), but what would work best for you depends on your hair type and ethnicity.
I feel your pain, but here's the trick. Shampoo and condition your hair with heavy moisturizing shampoo and conditioner,suggestion.. J Beverly HIlls Fragile Shampoo and Rescue conditioner. Comb your hair with a wide toothed comb in the shower while conditioner is still in your hair. Rinse not so thoroughly. While still in the shower liberally apply hair curling balm to your hair, suggestion..Grahm Webb Making Waves . Ring out out with hands . Put towel on head, DON'T RUFFLE JUST WRAP TOWEL ON HEAD. Get out of shower leaving towel on for about five minutes. Take towel off and DON'T TOUCH YOUR HAIR. Let you hair dry really dry until crunchy. Hold head upside down (once dry) and scrunch with anti-frizz cream, suggestion Sebastian Laminates Crema-styler. Flip up, YOUR DONE! Use hands to lift or fluff. Tangle free tight pretty curls.
For me, the Denman D3 brush works great for detangling and curl definition. I use it when my hair is wet and it works great! Its sold at Sally beauty supply but its also online.
My daughter is half african half white. She has curly hair but it isn't really course. My husband doesn't want me to brush it cuz he said it would get curlier. What should I do?? When I don't brush it, it does get curlier but it gets real nappy as well.
My niece is half african and half white with the same super curly but soft hair. My sister brushes it out very gently after the bath when it's really wet with tons of conditioner in it. She usually leaves the conditioner in it to keep seperated and shiny as well.

i dont know if this helps but i am white and i have VERY curly hair.. i only brush it when i am about to get into the bath and right out of the shower.. and i add gel to keep the curls in and NO BLOW DRYING haha i let it air dry.
Brushing hair is good. It gets the "dead" hair out and lets natural hair oil flow. It will help take care of the nappy look. No one can help that it gets curlier when you brush it--that's part of her heritage.

i dont know where you live, but usually a beauty salon will have one, or try a hair dressers!! Using a pic is probably the best thing for her hair even though its not course its curly, my neice has very thick curly hair and she uses almond oil in her hair to keep it from tangling all up after she has a shower, etc...

Yeah i have very curly hair also but i usually only brush it like before swimming or bathing or anything like that because otherwise it can it even curlier and then frizzy,
try jellling it down or maybe just brush it really soft i know it sounds very stupid but if u do it just enough it won't b frizzy and it won't be AS curly

curly hair takes forever to straighten. unless you want to spend at least 20 minutes a day on it, i suggest either chemically straightening it or learn to love it. use leave in conditioner and have fun. use gel or anti-frizz serum. and have fun with the colour. that is where curly hair rocks!

umn.. it's possible. if your hair is longer, it pulls it down so it won't have as much curl on it and it'll be more of a wave. the more hair, the more weight pulling it down so if ur length changed that could effect it. i don't know what else would change it.

I'm going to assume your daughter is white since your profile picture is white. This is important because relaxers are different with African-Americans. First, if you haven't already, look at the instructions. Does it say anything about showering first, then applying, or applying while showering, or does the picture show someone with wet or dry hair? It's odd that a hair product wouldn't include instructions.
Why don't you try typing the name of the product into Google or Yahoo and looking for instructions there? You'll also find user reviews on almost every site too, which will be good to determine how the product works on other people, and you'll have an idea whether it will be good for your daughter or not.
Read the directions on the box.
I'm pretty sure it has to be dry though, because every time I have had it done my hair was dry.

No product will MAKE the hair curl that I know of. All the cremes, gels and mousses that claim to help curly hair only help to define the curls on already curly hair.
Unless you get a perm I don't think anything will do what you're asking.

I'd give you a list of things to try, but the list is way long. My two biggest tips would be to try conditioner-only hair washing, or using a cream-type leave-in conditioner.

i have super frizzy hair except its wavey instead of curley. when i want to wear it curly then i tae a biG glob of curling mousse or cream (garneir fructise is my fAVE)then i scrunch it in my hair and let it air dry. if i want to wear it straight then i let air dry then straighten it. i use to blow dry it before straightening it but i found that this damaged my hair to much leading to even more frizziness
i have wavy frizzy hair and i straighten it sometimes. to wear it curly, i use a lot of fructis products such as "surf hair" for more natural curls, or mousse- with that i either blow dry upside down while scrunching to make it super curly or put the mousse in while it's really wet and just let it air dry for less crispy hair :)
i just went to the hairdressers about 3 days ago with this same problem except my hairs a smidge longer.
anyways the hair dresser ended up "texturizing" just my ends so it helps the curl ..
she also said put a little bit of some straightening product on the top/hairline to flatten it down %26amp; control frizz
hairdryer=your worst enemy, but not surprised if you've already found this one out yourself.
some mouse.. or if you can find something along the lines of a "bouncy" product that's a safe bet.. little hairspray.. not on top tho, just the bottom half.. then just scrunch the rest in place with a towel

OMG i have curly hair too and i hate it.
First of all you should buy Anti Frizz shamopp and wash it properly - Shampoo rinse and REPEAT cause if you dont repeat your only getting rid of the oil and dirt but not actually washing it.
Then you put in some taming cream or gel or what ever and you can put it into a loose bun and then either curl or just leave your natural curls hang out if theres any left overs at the sides :D hope that helped

People will tell to use them, but all it will do is ruin your hair and nobody including you will think it looks pretty. Yeah, maybe the first time but once it gets fried, it is poofy and gross.
I had the same exact problem and I HATED my hair. I never wore it down and I always straightened.
Secret to my Success? No shampoo. It sounds so weird and gross but IT WORKS! Just a conditioner made for curly hair.
After I use a little leave in conditioner for extra shine and softness.
Then I use Garnier Spray Gel for curly hair. It feels crunchy when you first put it in, but after it loosens up.
My hair is still damaged from the heat I used on it, but I am on my way to recovery.
You will get a lot of compliments when you finally learn to like your hair. I still do not like my hair, but all of my friends do.
(also you do not need to wash your hair everyday, it just makes it dryer. the look the next day is still nice)

Honestly, no, there is no way to make anyones curly hair straight easily. And with your hair being think it will take even longer and you will need more products and tools to get it straight, not to mention keep it straight. I am sorry, we all want what we don't have unfortunately. I see it everyday in the salon. And I wanted to be honest with you. Good luck!
have you tried using a flat iron/straightener? if you buy a good one (they can get expensive) it should work really well and fast
buy a flat iron (or one of those funky new hair blow dryers/straighteners)
1.section your hair by pulling up the outer/top layers of your hair with clips or hairbands(note: it doesnt have to look nice, it just has to work)
2. straighten the bottom sections/layers of your hair
3. let down hair peice by peice and straighten each strand as you go
4. fix problem areas
5. put anti frizz serum in your hair and go!
Buy a blow dryer with an attachable brush. I know how hard it is to use both hands, but if you buy this you will only need to use one, and it goes really fast and looks really good if you do it in layers. Sometimes you might want to run through it with a straightener though.
O.K start with your shampoo and conditioner. Get something that promotes straight hair. John Freeda has a good line for this. Once out of the shower put a product like moose or some sort of gell that reduces frizz. Section off your hair and blow dry each section with a round spiral brush. You hair might look a little frizzy and crazy but once finished with this step section off your hair again and then straighten each section with a straightener. Before you straighten your hair get a spray that protects your hair from the heat of the straightener.
Buy a really cheap hair straightener at your nearest drugstore. They take half the time of blowdrying and give your hair a shiny glow.
There is a flat iron straightener that I have. I can't remember the name right off hand but you can use it on wet hair and skip blow drying and cut your styling time in half. I believe it is from Conair. You also need a really good straightening balm. I recommend Redkin Align. It smells really good and does a wonderful job!

I have wavy-curly hair that looks like a frizzy semi-straight mess if I don't treat it right. When I want to wear it curly, this is what I do (I read it somewhere; for treating curly hair):
First, before you go to bed, brush your hair a lot to distribute the oils, which will originate from your scalp. I say do it before bed, because if you do it after a shower in the morning, it's more likely to frizz. You can also brush first thing in the morning, or any time you're not going out in public %26amp; don't care.
Second, don't wash your hair every day. Two or three times a week, wash only the roots. I do this by soaking my hair, then flipping my head over. I put shampoo in the palm of one hand, and use the fingertips of the other to work small amounts of shampoo into my roots, beginning in the front, then around the ears and as far up as I can go toward my crown and the back without shampooing it ALL. Then I put my hair back where it goes, tilt my head far back, and use my fingertips, beginning at the nape of the neck. Just be sure you rinse your face, too, as you probably will have dripped some suds, and I frequently get them up my nose (that burns a little).
When you wash, or even daily if you prefer, condition your hair thoroughly. It is recommended that you begin with the roots (I massage the scalp as I go), and work your way out. I use the same method as when I shampoo. However, after I've done my roots %26amp; all, I'll totally cream my hair. Pile it loosely on top of your head, and let the conditioner sit for 2-5 minutes. If you do your hair first, you can let it sit while you wash the rest of you, shave, etc. I've probably let the conditioner sit in my hair for 20 minutes. Rinse thoroughly, especially if you've loaded on the conditioner. I will usually tip my head forward and let it run off by my face, similar to the way I rinse when I color my hair.
Don't wring out your hair when you're done. Instead, gently squeeze the water out. Then lightly wrap a towel in a turban for a while. When you towel-dry your hair, don't rub too much. Again, you'll want to squeeze the water into the towel, and leave it a little damp.
Use a pick to eliminate possible tangles, and always start from the bottom to avoid breakage.
I recently picked up some Clairol Herbal Essences Smoothing Creme with aloe on a whim. Since my style change, and devotion to soft, curly hair, I plan to NEVER buy a different product. It's lovely!!!
When using styling products, it is advisable to NOT begin application near the roots, especially when utilizing your hair's natural oils. I mean styling products such as this. Anything used for smoothing, etc. (Volumizing products are usually applied at the roots first.) I squeeze about a dime-size amount in the palm of my hand, rub my hands together, and apply it by scrunching it into my hair. If it were longer, I would probably begin at the ends, but it's only to my shoulders at its longest. Once I've reduced the amount of product ON MY HANDS, I will direct more attention to root areas, and around my face. If you START there, you may look greasy.
If you blow-dry, use a diffuser, and keep the heat low. If you use the smoothing creme (found in a green squeeze bottle; mine), I would apply a decent amount BEFORE drying, and use just a little tiny bit to settle your look AFTER drying and/or styling.
You may want to avoid sprays, spritzes, and gels, as they often contain alcohol, which will dry out your hair AND require more frequent washing. This will ultimately cancel out everything I've just told you.
I swear by Dove hair care products. The only reason I picked up the Herbal Essences is that I didn't see anything like it near the Dove products. When I run out, I will look again, and try anything similar made by Dove. Otherwise, I'll probably stick with what I've got for life.

I suggest that you apply a bit of mousse to it wet and pick it out (or use a large toothed comb). Do not blow it dry all the way and always use a diffuser. When you are finished, apply a bit of hair oil.
In short: Products! I use Aveda's Be Curly, which provides a soft hold. Also, Aveda's Confixor is useful for curly hair. It's a very liquid-like gel.
Fredrick Fekkai has amazing products, but they are pricey.
Frizz Ease is over the counter and can be purchased at drug stores and has worked wonders for my wavy hair in the past.
I Use is a clear gel by a company called Fantasia I.C.( like the american idol singer) it is really good and it makes my frizzy hair stay surly all day. it doesn't flake adn you can wet your hair the next day and it still stays curly!

There's a shampoo out in in salons called curl life it prevents frizzieness and helps to keep your hair curlly.
Leave in conditioner.
Use John Frieda FRIZZ EASE produccts their the most effective. also see if you need to change your shampoo.
FRIZZ EASE IS MIRACULOUS AND WORKS BEST ON MY FRIZZY HAIR EVEN IN HUMID CONDITIONS.
I use herbal essence frizz spray gel and it smells really nice and doesn't build up in my hair like regular hair spray does. It is the best I've found for my naturally curly hair.
i have REALLY curly hair and even stylists or people like that say its really hard to work with. My hair is about 2 inches or 1 and a half inches long and i want to grow it out without it turning into an afro-like thing or something really poofy! it is naturally brownish blonde but i bleached it so my hair is even frizzier!! i dont want to straighten it everyday, so if anyone knows anyway to make my hair straighter or flatter or something (i.e shampoos or conditioners) then please tell me!!
My son has curly hair, but instead of fighting the curl, he uses a smoother so his hair has a nicer texture.

2. Smooth 'N Shine Polishing Silk 'n Sleek Styling Straighten Polish
3. SunSilk "Straighten Up" line (purple bottles)
4. Rusk Str8 Anti-Frizz/Anti-Curl Lotion
#1, 2 %26amp; 3 are a great deal
(you can get them for a little less than $5 each ...)
the Rusk is a little more expensive (around $11)
but works really well
FYI:
Because you color, use products that are formulated for colored/permed and damaged hair ... the shampoos are gentler. You can pair it with a smoothing conditioner or even do a 50-50 mix of straightening / damaged hair conditioner.
I color too (I have straight hair) and use a 3 part mix of split end, silkening %26amp; colored hair conditioners and my hair does better with all 3 instead of each one individually.
i would say the only way is a straightning iron or you might try some shampoo that is for curly hair that might help
Well if you want it straight, use garnier frutics sleek and shine. But if you want it really straight, im sorry, but you will have to get a straightner.
Switch to a super moisturizing shampoo. Try Tricomin Conditioning Shampoo. The Pantene Smooth and Sleek shampoo/conditioner collection is the best! It flattens the hair and weighs it down and makes it silky. I use it (although I'm a girl) (I have thick hair, but not frizzy) So, it should help, and it says "Anti-frizz" on the bottle so, good luck!
P.S. It most likely won't make it REALLY REALLY straight so when it is easier to work with go to a hair salon or something and have them straighten it , but if you don't want it straightened stick with the shampoo you might end up with regular curls.
You can get your hair chemically straightened or get a kit to do it at home. I think it usually lasts for about two months, but I'm not too sure about the extense of damage it could cause to your hair. I bought a kit to do it once, and I read the warnings and was too scared to do it.

I sometimes just want to straighten it, but i'v been told that it only dries my hair even more, and i dont get that shiny look either. I am part African American and part white, so I can sympathize with your curl dilemma. I always get compliments on my curly hair. This is my daily hair routine:
Completely wet your hair in the shower. Now, the key is to not rub your head with the towel. That causes frizziness when you dry it. You need to squeeze all of the excess water out of your hair. Then, I usually rub some moisturizer in my hair. (I use Caroline's Daughter Mimosa anti-frizz moisturizer.) Then, I take some mousse (Tresemme, John Frieda - any kind is fine. But, since you have super dry hair, get one that says "mousterizing mousse" on it.) and rub it through your hair. Be sure to get COMPLETE coverage with the mousse. Once it is all in my hair, I will shake it a bit, situate the curls, and then let it airdry. If you have time, you may want to dry it for about 2 minutes, but the key is to let it air dry. That significantly reduces the frizz. But, all in all - this is my regimen. I have NEVER met anyone with curly hair that didn't get good results from this.
- use mosturising shampoo and conditioner like hello hydration by herbal essences
- do deep condtioning using pantene oil replacement, loreal hair mask or kerastase on weekly basis
- use sunsilk's straighten-up leave-in conditioner, or john frieda's frizz-ease after washing u hair
- use straightener to remove the curls and wave and diivde ur hair into 2 parts.
- do tiny corn rolls in the front half and curl the end of the rolls and the rest of the hair at the back
- spray it so hold the curls so that they dont poof
You could use conditioner in the shower, and then when you straighten your hair you could use the new spray they have that makes your hair shiny.
If you can spend the money (it costs around $500 and up), I'd recommend Japenese Hair Straightening, aka thermal hair reconstruction.
i also have very curly hair. and i understand what your problem is. I straighten my hair daily but when i do go curly i wash it with regular conditioner and put a towel over it until its nearly dry. then i let the rest air dry.
after its good i put gel in it but not to much ..
i usually pen haft up so i get soft curls under.
dont wash your hair every day because people with curly hair have the driest hair and washing it everyday causes it to become even more dry and when you do wash your hair use conditioner. Comb your hair with a wide toothed comb when its damp and apply a good amount of leave in conditioner in your hair as your combing it. And if you brush your hair when its dry it will end up making your hair even frizzier.
when you blow dry your hair use a deffuser attachment but dont fully blow dry your hair leave it somewhat damp so it does not dry out.
If your going to let your hair air dry then put in some gel and scrunch your hair to tame the curls.

a perm usually last from 3-6 months, depending on the length of your hair. a perm will give you more curl, and also more manageable curl. ask your stylist how to do this. a perm can cause the hair to be drier than normal, but can be very minimum when you get a good perm at a salon...use a good shampoo and conditioner to maintain your perm after also, this will keep it healthy also!

Perms are always damaging. I want straight hair and using dryer and iron to flatten it out.
A perm should last till your hair grows back again. Don't forget to put conditioning stuff in it.
perms do use chemicals that damage your hair. but it is not that bad, you might want to use a deep conditioner before and after. good luck.

perms do technically damage hair,but a curl activator keeps curls moist and shiny, and mousse will help in keep its shape. Your welcome
A perm dose a lot of damage to the hair. You should try a style product that helps the hair be more curly like Bed head,etc. Put the product in your hair when its wet scrunch your hair and blow dry. That always works for me.
Use mousse, gel, or styling creme to scrunch into your hair and diffuse until mostly dry. Skip the perm.
I have blonde curly/wavy hair and the only way i can do it now is scrunch it and let it air dry but i hate having to go to school like i just got out of a shower and there is no guarantee if it is going to look good or not, are there any suggestions besides using a diffuser because it always makes my hair go limp 10 minutes later. I hate wearing it straight because its too common and everyone has their hair like that.

See if they will curl your hair with curlers. The ones that are like straightners but they curl instead. Or see if your friends have any Curlers, you could borrow them. Its not permanent at all, it'll probably flatten out the next day/when you next wash your hair. Good luck.

I have wavy-curly hair that looks like a frizzy semi-straight mess if I don't treat it right. When I want to wear it curly, this is what I do (I read it somewhere; for treating curly hair):
First, before you go to bed, brush your hair a lot to distribute the oils, which will originate from your scalp. I say do it before bed, because if you do it after a shower in the morning, it's more likely to frizz. You can also brush first thing in the morning, or any time you're not going out in public %26amp; don't care.
Second, don't wash your hair every day. Two or three times a week, wash only the roots. I do this by soaking my hair, then flipping my head over. I put shampoo in the palm of one hand, and use the fingertips of the other to work small amounts of shampoo into my roots, beginning in the front, then around the ears and as far up as I can go toward my crown and the back without shampooing it ALL. Then I put my hair back where it goes, tilt my head far back, and use my fingertips, beginning at the nape of the neck. Just be sure you rinse your face, too, as you probably will have dripped some suds, and I frequently get them up my nose (that burns a little).
When you wash, or even daily if you prefer, condition your hair thoroughly. It is recommended that you begin with the roots (I massage the scalp as I go), and work your way out. I use the same method as when I shampoo. However, after I've done my roots %26amp; all, I'll totally cream my hair. Pile it loosely on top of your head, and let the conditioner sit for 2-5 minutes. If you do your hair first, you can let it sit while you wash the rest of you, shave, etc. I've probably let the conditioner sit in my hair for 20 minutes. Rinse thoroughly, especially if you've loaded on the conditioner. I will usually tip my head forward and let it run off by my face, similar to the way I rinse when I color my hair.
Don't wring out your hair when you're done. Instead, gently squeeze the water out. Then lightly wrap a towel in a turban for a while. When you towel-dry your hair, don't rub too much. Again, you'll want to squeeze the water into the towel, and leave it a little damp.
Use a pick to eliminate possible tangles, and always start from the bottom to avoid breakage.
I recently picked up some Clairol Herbal Essences Smoothing Creme with aloe on a whim. Since my style change, and devotion to soft, curly hair, I plan to NEVER buy a different product. It's lovely!!!
When using styling products, it is advisable to NOT begin application near the roots, especially when utilizing your hair's natural oils. I mean styling products such as this. Anything used for smoothing, etc. (Volumizing products are usually applied at the roots first.) I squeeze about a dime-size amount in the palm of my hand, rub my hands together, and apply it by scrunching it into my hair. If it were longer, I would probably begin at the ends, but it's only to my shoulders at its longest. Once I've reduced the amount of product ON MY HANDS, I will direct more attention to root areas, and around my face. If you START there, you may look greasy.
If you blow-dry, use a diffuser, and keep the heat low. If you use the smoothing creme (found in a green squeeze bottle; mine), I would apply a decent amount BEFORE drying, and use just a little tiny bit to settle your look AFTER drying and/or styling.
You may want to avoid sprays, spritzes, and gels, as they often contain alcohol, which will dry out your hair AND require more frequent washing. This will ultimately cancel out everything I've just told you.
I swear by Dove hair care products. The only reason I picked up the Herbal Essences is that I didn't see anything like it near the Dove products. When I run out, I will look again, and try anything similar made by Dove. Otherwise, I'll probably stick with what I've got for life.

I suggest that you apply a bit of mousse to it wet and pick it out (or use a large toothed comb). Do not blow it dry all the way and always use a diffuser. When you are finished, apply a bit of hair oil.
In short: Products! I use Aveda's Be Curly, which provides a soft hold. Also, Aveda's Confixor is useful for curly hair. It's a very liquid-like gel.
Fredrick Fekkai has amazing products, but they are pricey.
Frizz Ease is over the counter and can be purchased at drug stores and has worked wonders for my wavy hair in the past.
I Use is a clear gel by a company called Fantasia I.C.( like the american idol singer) it is really good and it makes my frizzy hair stay surly all day. it doesn't flake adn you can wet your hair the next day and it still stays curly!

I use herbal essence frizz spray gel and it smells really nice and doesn't build up in my hair like regular hair spray does. It is the best I've found for my naturally curly hair.

When your hair is damp apply some styling gel, then it may be easier to munipulate.

Try getting a relaxer, or you can wet your hair and get a couple big globs of conditioner, massge it in and leave it for 15-20 minutes, then rinse it out. Also try some frizz control cream, it works really well.
see, when i was a child i used to have outrageously curly hair. now that i am 12, my hair is like, i dont know, loosening its texture. now its wavy and almost straight. i hate straight hair alot. do you have any ideas on how embrace and enhance the natural hair you once had?
If you want to get it curly again, I suggest you try using curl enhancing gel/mousse/creme (whatever your preference is) in your hair while it is wet and drying with a diffuser. That will bring out the curl.
cut it shorter. the shorter it is, the more it curls.

Well I would suggest using the product frizzeaze I think is how you spell it but any way you a pply just a little to the ends of your hair then straighten it. you could also cut it probably about medium length just to give it some umf to it. but pleaz stay away from layers unless they are long likenot even two inches!

use smoothing shampoos and conditioners, but you can't buy the cheap ones from drug stores, buy them from your salon or hair stylist. a diffuser might help with the frizz but u have to make sure you have a blow dryer with a low EMF so instead of blowing your hair all over the place it will use the heat to dry it in place. try putting your hair in rollers or just use a lot of hairspray or gel
mouse the heck out of it when its wet and apply a defrizzer serum and scrunch while u blow dry upside down and try to use a wide tooth comb or pick to get through it...instead of a brush

I have naturally curly hair too. What I just found that works really well is Sunsilk's green frizz fighter shampoo and conditioner. They also have a cream for use like an after product. It works really well.
The best thing I can tell you is to never completely dry your hair. I use a firm hold mousse, then blow the roots dry with my hair dryer, as I scrunch a little on the ends, just to get most of the wetness out.
There is also a product called "Frizz ease" that is a clear serum. Put it on BEFORE you towel off your hair. I just keep mine in the shower with me, so I won't forget. I only use it on really humid days.

After you shampoo and condition you hair next time, rinse with a diluted mixture of 1 cup of vinegar to 2 litres of water. Make sure you close your eyes cos it may sting a bit if you get any in your eyes. This vinegar remedy will return your hairs natural ph balance. 1st of all buy a curly based shampoo, like garnier, that will naturally enhance ur curls. then NEVER use a hair dryer without a diffuser to dry ur hair. it will make ur hair frizzy and rough. and if u dont have a diffuse air-dry ur hair.
then if u want, gel ur hair, in low hair dryer setting(with diffuser)

I agree w/the answer about John Frieda Frizz Ease.
Make sure your hair is very wet, comb out first...and apply serum into your palms, rub them around and then run thru the hair. Rearrange hair with comb and let dry. If you need to dry in the morning, then you must use a dryer on medium with the "diffuser" attachment, otherwise you'll frizz. Scrunch while you dry on medium. Don't brush it! It should work for you, and it's what I used when I had a perm that went frizz-city.
Also, my stylist always used Creative Genius gel on my hair before drying with the diffuser.
My hair is like that too. I usually just put in conidtioner after I wash my hair and leave it in. I use the Dove moisturizing conditioner and it works pretty well. Most of the time my hair also puffs up so I would consider using the Dove gel and hairspray too.
My hair's the exact same way! I finally figures out what to do with it. First, I start with Herbal Essences shampoo/conditioner....the purple one meant for curly hair. I wash it, then I put curl definer in it....mine is Redken Curl Perfector 07....i put abt two pumps in my hand and work it through my hair. I then put herbal essences mousse (again, purple bottle) in it, working it evenly through and applying a bit more to the ends. Last, I put a penny size amount of citre shine serum in my hand and run it through my hair. Then, I scrunch it. After that, I either let it air dry or blow dry it with a diffuser. That should work. I too have the curse of curly hair! I recently tried Sunsilk Frizz Control shampoo and conditioner (green bottles) and I love it! Its quite thick which I think helps. As far as what I put in my hair, I use a spray gel. Spray gels are awesome! And air dry if you can and scrunch flipped over as it dries, and for heaven's sake, NEVER put a brush to your hair, EVER! LOL Pick, pick, pick!

My hair type is more wavy than curly, although ringlets develop on some of the ends, and it's very curly in humid conditions. My hair is pretty fine.
I use SEXY CURLY HAIR. Available in salons or fine beauty supply stores. It's a spray that comes out as a foam. It's in a tall dark blue can with red text. You don't need much at all. Spray in your hand, rub hands together, then apply to the places that tend to get frizzy. Apply by squeezing and scrunching into curls. The stuff is great. The curls happen immediately as soon as you scrunch. Then, just let dry. Don't run your fingers through it or mess with it or fluff it until it's 100% dry. Just leave it alone and it's a good, slightly messy look. Or, if you want a softer shinier look, you can brush through the top layer a bit with a brush, but leave the curls underneath alone.
Oh yes, for shampoo Catwalk Curls Rock. I used it for two years with great success. Although recently it hasn't been working for me so well. My hair was starting to feel less soft. So I'm using Biolage Ultra Moisturizing Shampoo and Hydrating Conditioner. Bounce and shine galore! Get both if you can and alternate. Be ready to spend a pretty penny though. But you can buy really big bottles and you won't have to buy shampoo again for more than a year. It only takes a dab of the good stuff. I just scrub my scalp mostly, and then quickly go through the rest of my hair so as not to dry it out .
hey, i have the same problem you do, curly/frizzy hair. It took me awhile to find the product thats right for me. First i take a shower and use a conditioner that tames frizz and kinks.(garnier fructis works well) I only use shampoo a couple times a week because it only drys the curls out and gives it even more frizz. Don't worry not using it doesn't make your hair look greasy! Then i pat my hair dry. NEVER wrap your hair up in a turban it just tangles and frizzes it even more. After it air drys a little i put a curl enhancing mousse in it by just running the palms of my hands through it so that i won't loosen the curls and tangle them.(try l'oreal paris studio line curl enhancing formula) If you want you can blow dry your hair after all of this, but i would recommend a diffuser. Hope this helps!

I also have naturally frizzy curly/wavy course hair. After I wash my hair with a good conditioner and shampoo such as Pantene, I use the finesse mousse Extra Control. It makes your hair stay in place and it doesn't make your hair hard. Just after you put it in don't touch your hair and don't walk all over shaking your hair. Wait until it's dry. Hope that helps some. You can also put a tiny bit of anti-frizz gloss in after it's done drying.
i have tried many products over the years, went with many fad products that claimed to work, but in the last few yrs i have finally found the ones that work for me:
1st i use my ion blowdryer (it controls frizz), before i blowdry i use paul mitchell straight works (about $15) can buy at any salon and it lasts a while. then to make hair less soft and more manageable and less frizzy i spray a little shaping spray (like ION or Volumax) ($5.00 at sallys beauty) then use the flat iron or curling iron to smooth it out. this really works for me. plus the paul mitchell straight works does not make your hair stiff at all, or gooey.
My hair is like that, also. I really like Garnier Frutis Style Curl Contruct Mousse. It's pretty inexpensive, and you can find it anywhere. Usually I run a comb through my hair to get tangles out, then apply the mousse and scrunch. This stuff can be used for air-dried hair or can be used with a diffuser on your hair dryer. Good Luck!
so i dont have to use any sort of iron (maybe curling but whenever i curl my hair theres just too much hair.) i just want my hair to be kinda wavy or even strigh or curly ANYTHING!! even if i have to use an iron any ideas are greatly appreciated ( i have a chi)

same! okay what i do to make it pretty and wavy is i take a shower in the evening, about 4 hours before i go to bed so that my hair will be pretty much dry by the time i sleep. after washing it, i put frizz control stuff in my hair and comb it through with a wide tooth comb. then wait for your hair to air dry a little bit, maybe for an hour. then i comb it again and then put it in low braided pigtails until the morning. when you take them out in the morning, don't brush your hair because it will just get poofy, at least it does for me. just run your fingers through it. i hope this works for you!!
I have really curly hair, and it's a pain to straighten it. So what I do is put fizz products in it...if not i put my hair up in a ponytail. You can also put some hair spray in it when it's damp so, it looks natural...=]
try some crazy style- up in sparratic pigtails, all over your head, pulled up into a spray bun (like a normal bun, but with a few pieces left "flying" out).
you could also cut it into a short style-that usually looks good with that type of hair. for example, try a mini-fro (JUST an idea!) or a pixie-cut. you can also use all kinds of fun clips/bands/fillintheblank with short hair, which will keep it interesting on a day to day basis.

you can get it relaxed, at a hair salon theres a thing thats like a perm, but instead of getting your hair to stay curly for several months, it keeps your hair straight, i haven't done it, but my friend has, and her hair looks great
I had the same problem. Use an anti-frizz contioner- I recommend Herbal Essences or Pantene, and, if you really have to, use a straightener or curling iron for really bad areas in between showers. Also, if you don't already blow dry your hair do so.

i use the TRESemme products for curly hair the moose is fantastic, i have long hair and the curls always dropped so i also got some shoulder length layers cut in to it now it look brill, you can get the shampoo range in any supermarket or chemist ( U.K) hope this helps but i won't be using any other product on my hair it really make my curls shine, best of luck with your hair.

i would just tie it back, or wrap it in a bun, and use a leave in conditioner this may help with it drying out. and sorry i can't see your picture to see your hairstyle,so im just guessing what its like.

if you just want curly hair, you should use "denise McAdams" hair serum, or "Nicky Clarke" products. i have real frizzy hair, but because of the products i use it's pretty curly. it goes in ringlets and stuff!
you should wash your hair with these products, and while it's still wet you should brush it. well.
do not use hair dryers because they will just dry your hair out and make it even frizzier!

- Read the book and visit the sites below about curly hair. I did and my once horrible curly hair is now virtually frizz-free ringlets. Now I get compliments on my hair all the time! Straighten your hair- be happy for a day, learn to manage your curly hair- be happy for life!
- To style your hair using the curly-girl method you will need gel, a leave in cream, and conditioner at the minimum. Some less useful, but still nice stuff would be a blowdryer, a diffuser (reduces frizz in curly/wavy hair when used with dryer), and a microfiber hair turban (to dry wet hair while sleeping or in the morning).
-The main philosophy of the curly-girl method is to not use shampoo. This may sound unhygenic but it has actually made my hair less oily and dandruffy. Most shampoos contain some of the same chemicals found in laundry detergent (aka sodium laureth sulfate or anything close to that). They dry out curly hair. Also you shouldn't brush your curly hair dry because it damages the hair and makes it poof.
- Massaging of the scalp with conditioner to remove dirt is all that is needed. It will clean everything but super clingy silicones (cyclopentasiloxane and dimethicone are examples). Then rinse and spread conditioner on the outside layer of hair and the hair at the nape of your neck. Gently comb tangles out with your fingers or a wide toothed comb and rinse with cold/cool water.
- Do not brush/comb your hair after this point because it wil disturb the curl pattern (make sure you already have a part). It is also important to use gel on sopping wet hair and scrunch the hair with your fingers. Make sure gel is evenly distributed everywhere in your hair. If you use too much you can always scrunch out the crunchy texture later.
- Use paper towels or an old t-shirt to gently scrunch some of the water out (generic towels can make hair frizz). You can either let your hair air dry or wait ten minutes and then use a blowdryer with a diffuser. Dry until your hair is almost dry, and then let air dry the last bit. Do not touch the hair while it is air drying or it will frizz!
- Use a moisturizing conditioner, such as Desert Essence Organics Italian Red Grape Conditioner (found at health food/organic stores) or Activate Hydrating Conditioner (drugstore). The combo of products that I use daily is L'Oreal Out of Bed Weightless Texturizer (comes in a black-colored tub) and then Herbal Essences Totally Twisted Gel or Body Envy Gel, but there are more conditioners, gels, etc. on the websites. The products I recommended are my personal favorites and contain no silicones.
- Your hair may seem worse at first, but it is just adjusting. This may take a couple weeks to begin working. Before you decide to quit shampoo, do a final cleanse with shampoo and stop the use of any products with silicones in them. Hope this helps!

you need to have your hair cut with an angle all the way around your face. it's like having long bangs that get gradually longer as they go around your face.
once you have the cut take a 1 inch curling iron and put it along the angle including the "bangs" and the longer bangs and curl it back (or away from your face). the iron should be all the way from the top of your forehead to the hair that comes out around your lower jaw line.
A small round brush and a blow dryer for the feathered look :)

For both, you need a layered haircut.

the first one she used a curling iron (for the top part) and looks like some heated rollers (for the longer areas). the 2nd is more of a trousled look id reccommend sexed up by TGI but be careful not to use to much.

Is your hair shorter now? I used to have super straight hair when I was younger also, but now it has deeper curls now that I keep my hair at shoulder length. Back then it was well past my shoulders.

thats sounds like me! i had straight hair until i was about 5. i found keeping short hair makes my hair easier to manage. i also tried "easy Straight" and it's awesome! you might wanna try it.

SAMETHING HAPPEND TO ME. well, you should go perm it straight if you dont wanna straighten it everyday. wen u perm it, it will be straight everyday even if u take a shower. then wen a year passes, u gotta go perm it agen becuz it becums normal agen. it cost around 200 bucks. thats what i did, good luck

you should try the Japanese Hair Straightening. It will make your hair sooo straight. I'm thinking about doing it because my hair gets really puffy in the morning and it is reallyyy annoying becasue I can never wear it down. Although it is pretty expensive. It is usually $400 and up but it will make your hair straight and very shiny and healthy. Check it out on the web

I have the same problem. If you're in your teens, it's probably puberty, and might go away as you get older.
In the meantime, wash your hair once every two days. Shampoo dries out your hair. Also use a leave in conditioner every morning.
Second, use a good hair gel like John Frieda Frizz-Ease Corrective Styling Gel after you wash your hair. Rub it through your hair and scrunch it a bit.
Third, don't brush your hair. It creates static at the roots and causes alot of frizz.
Once a week you should use a strengthening treatment in place of conditioner, like Neutrogena Triple Moisture Deep Recovery hair mask.

I have a book called Curly Girl by Lorraine Massey %26amp; Deborah Chiel and it is really good. It tells you how to properly take care of curly hair. I just got it for Christmas so I have not tried anything from it yet. For a long time I have been using Kerastase Oleo Relax and Kerastase Elasto Curl. Both work really good. Oleo Relax relaxes my curls. Elasto Curl makes my curls bouncy and fuller. I am going to follow the Curl Girl book though!
My hair isnt extremley curly but when you gel it i wont spike and just looks like uve wacked gel in and not styled it..
but theres not a lot i can do with it...

It depends on the girl. LOTS of girls like curly hair but theres a handfull that like straight hair. DONT put any gel AT ALL in curly hair!!!!! lol

I use Joico KPAK shampoo, conditioner and resconstructor once a week. (Walmart and Rite Aid sometimes has it as well as http://salonsavings.com/joico/ ) The online store has the best prices for the above products...
The difference between pro and supermarket shampoo's lies in the ph level as well as it being concentrated, using less is more, distributing through your hands first using a quarter size amount is all you need, I only have to buy twice a year.
The smoothing balm and styling elixer are awesome as well.
Leave in conditioners, INTEGRITY or Stregnthing Tonic applied before styling products will amaze you at the difference.
You will sucessfully tame your hair. The Joico smoothing balm is extremely helpful because its heat activated...
