How do you tame curly hair?

All my life I have been plagued by a white boy afro... I cut it but it just grows back, it's like it's making a desperate attempt to flee my head region! I'm sick of trying to tell people it's not a PERM. curly hair is nice on girls, but not guys.

Sweetie, I think you look perfect just the way you are. My Sister has hair exactly like yours. For years she tried to tame it. I remember when we were young, she asked me to iron it for her. lol....what a disaster!

My suggestion is keep a nice haircut (not too short) Possibly put a little gel in it, this will help with the frizz.

Focus on your good points. You are unique...no one else in this world exactly like you...celebrate it!

Everyone wants what they don't have. I have straight hair and would love to have your natural curls. But if you are serious - have you ever talked to a professional at a salon about straightening or relaxing? Do NOT try any of the OTC crap because you could ruin your hair. Just talk to an expert and see what they say.

ask your local hairdresser/barbers im sure he or she will give you products to HELP it calm down, but it wont completely go!

Have you tried using any products? I have naturally curly hair and if i dont put something on it it looks like a lion's mane!

I use a combination of Tony and Guy (frizz smoothing set) and John Frieda (Frizz-Ease) both of which work really well.

There are loads of other similar products by different brands so try lots and see what works.

I could understand why it would get old for you but... I think it fits you and I'm a dork but I like it. If your type of girl is the high maintenance type than you may consider a professional straightening but if you prefer someone a little funkier... keep it, it's hot!

I have a naturally frizzy fro. When it rains there is no hope for it but as long as the weather is fairly dry,....

I use a defrizzing oil to tame the frizz and curl activator to define the curls. I learned, a few years ago, to stop fighting against the curl. That was enhancing the fro effect. lol. A hair dresser recommended a product by aveda for curls and sure enough, once i stopped fighting it and let it go it looked much better. Curlier, but nice defined curls look much better than the dry frizzy mess I had been sporting in past.

You have seen my picture. The one with big hair is natural but it's after frizz ease and Aveda Be Curly. Without those two fundamental hair products my hair is about 6 times bigger and frizzier than my picture. lol.

There are several off brands of these products now.
