What do you think? I just got it dyed and i got these highlights and its red. Well i am thinking i miss having really curly hair. I just have slight wavy hair. Only thing is the top part always burns should i have them not perm so close to the scalp? Why does this happen? I am just sick of my hair lol.

I wouldn't perm it. It really damages your hair and the upkeep is a *****. Invest in hot rollers. They will give you body and curl that last all day. And they come in a lot of different sizes so you can decide how big you want your curls to be.

I would not perm your hair if you just dyed it, if you do you would fry your hair, and that would not be pretty it would really frizzy looking if you don't do any thing to it. :)

Perms are so harsh.

Chemicals are not as good for your hair as you think. You have just dyed it there is no way your hair will live well through a perm also.

Give it a break.

Learn to like your hair the way it is. Maybe a new hairstyle might be what you need instead.

Once you fry your hair it is fried.

Some advice: since you just got your hair colored, I'd be careful not to get it permed right away. All those chemicals can damage your hair.

In lieu of getting your hair permed, have you tried rollers? You can usually buy them at just about any drugstore (like Walgreens) or beauty supply store. This is a less permanent solution to having wavy hair.

If you do decide to get a perm, make sure the stylist doesn't use the really tiny rods. If you want that thick, wavy look (like Debra Messing from Will %26amp; Grace), using the biggest rods are best.

Seeing as how you just dyed and highlighted your hair, it's best not to torment it any more. If you absolutely must have it permed, at least wait a little while. Treat your hair to a few weeks of deep conditioning and TLC before you even think of making an appointment with a hairstylist. Your hair burns because of the chemicals. Simple as that.

I got my hair permed a month ago, I have dry hair by nature and it only made my hair slightly dryer than it normally is. But that's ok because with my straight hair I had to wash it everday to keep a style, with curly hair I do it every other day, so I break even. The only thing you have to worry about is your color. A perm strips the color slightly, so if you have it dyed, that'll be a little lighter and so will your highlights. There are different types of perms. I'm not sure what kind I had but it didn't burn my scalp. Ask your hairdresser if they have a milder perm so it won't burn you. Some chemicals are stronger than others and lately they have come out with gentler chemicals since a lot of people are sensitive to them. It's not going to ruin your hair or make it fall out...people who experience that most likely have their head dipped in a bowl of bleach everyday, because my hair is still intact, and as I mentioned, is dry and also VERY fine by nature.

If you just dyed your hair, i would lay off perming it for awhile. The chemicals cause your scalp to burn. It sounds like your hair may be in need of major TLC. Maybe get a protein treatment , it is like 20 bucks. It makes your hair so much more healthier and shinier especially after dying it. Also to make ur hair more curly, get a diffuser and flip your hair upside downa dn blowdry your hair in little ringlets.. this will create more curls. Also buy a small curling iron, in about 5-10 minutes your hair will be just as curly. IF you insist on getting a perm, ask for a nonpermanent one, this way you will get less chemicals and it wont grow out all weird, it will just slowly get less curly. i have had lots of experience in this matter. anywhos..i hope this helps.

Sometimes the idea of a perm sounds really good, but they are so bad for your hair. your natural hair is what is in style right now anyways.

perm never looks good! once you've permed it it dries out your hair and it goes all frizzy and you get SPLIT ENDS!! yaiks! and another thing...it is permanent. you can get rid of the perm, but only by relaxing it, and that would be even worse for your hair. rather invest in a defuser or hot rollers. it gives more natural curls. i don't know if you are like this, but i am certainly......i do my hair according to how i feel in the morning. when you perm your hair, you have to be in a curly-hair-day-mood every single day of your life until it has grown out. the first while it is ok, but after a while you grow so damn irritated of it, you feel like cutting everything off. i permed my hair once in my life, and i wouldn't do it ever ever again in my life. please don't perm your hair. style your hair with a defuser and you can pick and choose how you feel that day, if you want your hair very curly or only a little bit curly. but it is still your choice! gd luck. rather get a new trendy, fresh haircut!!! now thats a good idea!!!

IF you perm your hair right now its gonna effect your color...it will fade or alter the color because of the chemical reaction of the perm solution...rule of thumb...perm first then color ...2 weeks inbetween....you cant get the salon not to perm so close to the scalp becasue that will cause breakage in the hair..its the solution that burns the scalp...tell your stylist that you have a sensitive scalp and they will use a milder solution ...

What ever you do....don't perm your hair it will be weak and brittle for years after....trust me....i had it done. now my hair is a big frizz bomb...i have to straigten it to make it sleek or if i want it curly i need to layer it with hairspray and other stuff to stop the frizziness.....
